Granny’s Pecan Pie

Pecan Pie

Hello, hello! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I certainly did, although I missed my son (who just joined the Navy and couldn’t make it home) very badly. Good news is that I’ll see him for Christmas.

Today I’m sharing my Granny Hice’s pecan pie recipe. There is a secret ingredient to this pie (other than LOVE!) and the secret is a very hard to find corn syrup called Pride of Dixie.

Now when I was a kid, this stuff was sold in Paris, Arkansas at my Granny’s local CVS grocery store and it came in a glass bottle, but they stopped selling it years ago. Eventually, Granny ran out of it.

Then goes the tale of how my Dad went on a quest to find it, and I believe they finally found it in a Harps in Sercy, AR. Needless to say, they stocked up on quite a bit of it for Granny. I was lucky enough to get 2 bottles (now in plastic bottles)

I ONLY use this syrup for this pie. Once a year. For Thanksgiving.
